Joe Oswald was born in the historic Beverly Hills neighborhood of Chicago. He has been teaching history for over twenty years and has a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from De Paul University, a master's degree in History from De Paul University, and a master's degree in Educational Administration from Governor's State University. His first two books were about the Beverly Hills/Morgan Park community in which he grew up. Chicago's Beverly/Morgan Park was published by Arcadia Publishing in 2003 as part of their Images of America series, and Joe Oswald continues to give presentations to community groups about the history of the community. His second book was a resource guide for teaching United States history. In 2019 he completed Vocabulary for Champions, a vocabulary-improvement book geared toward students and adults from 6th grade through adulthood. Joe's most recent book is titled The Homeowner's Guide to Contracting, Building, and Remodeling: Save a Fortune by Learning what Contractor's Don't Want You to Know.
