Patrick Baker

Patrick Baker lives close to Titirangi Village, located on the outskirts of the Waitakere Ranges, West Auckland, New Zealand. He has been a school principal, dean of education for a teachers training college, general manager for a business college before starting two successful businesses. He is also a ukulele, banjolele and music enthusiast who caught this bug after picking up his wife and life-long partner's ukulele. He now owns eight of these marvelous instruments which clutter his home and are always close at hand. After finding a children's book called "The Wonky Donkey", written and sung by a fellow New Zealand local, Craig Smith on Amazon, Patrick wrote his first sing-along-book "The Vegetarian Leopard" at his grandson's birthday party. The Vegetarian Leopard is not only an expression of his love for this little instrument but hopefully encourages ukulele as a wonderful instrument for children to learn to play at school. Reading and listening to the song or playing the Vegetarian Leopard story on ukulele not only teaches children a musical skill but, more importantly, conveys the message about the importance of a choosing a healthy, veggie-filled diet.

His second children's book,"My organic apple pie baking greenie grandma loves to eat worms" was inspired by this grandson Oliver and tells the story of a crazy, organic apple pie baking greenie grandma as she uses her secret tried and tested method to catch robbers hiding in the swamp around her house. This witty, fun-filled book is sure to surprise with its punch line at the end!

He has just completed his first novel, a science fiction story, book one, in a trilogy called the Essence of Twelve - The beginning of the journey.

Patrick now enthusiastically channels his residual energy and time between work, family, ukulele playing and writing books.
