Gerald Egan

Gerald Egan teaches in the English Department at California State University, Long Beach. He specializes in the literature of the long eighteenth century and romantic period, as well as visual culture and the digital humanities. His publications include essays on visual culture and the literary canon, and the material properties of books.

His first book, Fashioning Authorship in the Long Eighteenth Century, was published by Palgrave-MacMillan in 2017. His 2019 edited collection, Fashion and Authorship: Literary Production and Cultural Style from the Eighteenth to the Twenty-First Century, includes chapters by major and emerging scholars in the United Kingdom, North America, and Europe. He has presented more than twenty papers at international, national, and regional conferences.
