Mayank Pande

I superannuated from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd in October 2015 where I worked as an electronics engineer for 33 years, spread over Dehradoon (1982-94), Nazira Assam (1994-97), Ahmedabad (1997-2005) and Bombay (2005-2015).

Served briefly as a young officer in the Indian Army Corps of Signals after graduating with a B.E.(Hons) in electrical and electronics engineering from the Birla Institute Of Technology and Science Pilani in 1976. I belong to the 43rd Technical batch of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradoon, & the 1st Technical Graduates Young Officer's Course (YOTG-1) of the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Mhow.

Earned a Master of Engineering degree in electronics and communication from the erstwhile University of Roorkee in 1982. My studies had a break of one year when I worked as an unpaid apprenticeship at the UP State Observatory, Nainital where I learnt how digital computers really worked and could bridge gaps between theory and practice in my professional pursuits.

Was married to Jaishri on 06 Feb 1984 at Almora. She is a great teacher and homemaker who has tended to my health and wealth with love and care. We have a daughter Bhavya who is an Asst Professor at the School of Business, FLAME University Pune and son Captain Manu who works in GEM Dubai.

I was schooled under the Irish Christian Brothers at St Joseph’s College, Nainital from March 1960 to December 1970 and owe everything to my teachers, friends and family members who not only encourage me to write, but to aspire to do so with good clarity and style.
