Pratha Sharma

Pratha Sharma received formal education in Physics, Management, Finance and Odissi classical dance. She is based in India.

The books emphasize the revival and propagation of some of the lost aspects of India's ancient heritage and culture.

Her first book titled 'The Forgotten Shivlinga of the Sati Shaktipeeths' brings to light the lost and forgotten aspects of some ancient Shaktipeeth temples in the Indian subcontinent, following a millennium of foreign rule and plunder.

The main objective of the author is to propagate the fast depleting heritage of Hindu temple culture: being the prime centres of learning and that of art forms in ancient India.

Another book titled 'The Re-Establishment of Sri Athi Varadharajaswamy Perumal of Kanchipuram' talks about the lost glory, idols and structures following Muslim invasions in the thirteenth century and proposed modes of revival.

The book titled 'Sri Venkateswara Nija Padalu Adhishtham' and 'Temple Culture of Ancient India' particularly emphasize the devotional practices, education and arts practiced in ancient temples, thereby them being the centres of learning and cultural hubs.

The author also promotes the ancient culture of Bharatvarsha of treating all animals as family via a series of short stories for children titled 'Sonu Monu Ki Rochak Kahaniyan'.

The series title ' Sonu2 Monu2 Ki Rochak Kahaniyan' and ' Sonu3 Monu3 Ki Rochak Kahaniyan' present stories and episodes of the second and third generation of the Sonu Monu series, alongwith subsequent generations.

The series title 'Wonders of Mathematics' present an introduction of the basic concepts of Mathematics with emphasis on inclusion of cartoons and storytelling.

The book titled 'Changes through Time in Status of Cattle in India and Remedies for Cattle Protection' and 'Cattle Protection and Grace of Srivari' talk about the role of Hindu temples coming to the fore for alleviation of the condition of cattle in modern day India.

Apart from being an Author, she is a proficient Classical Odissi Dancer, Guru and Cultural Researcher who specializes in the traditional temple dancing styles of Odissi.

With over 40 years of association with the art form, her work primarily focuses on documenting and propagating the ancient, fast-depleting heritage of Hindu temple culture and classical arts. She received her formal training from Sree Neelanchala Seva Sangha, Lord Jagannath Temple in Delhi. Her teaching methodology incorporates the styles of two prominent Odissi Gurus namely Guru Mayadhar Raut and Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.The emphasis is on the original style practiced within the ancient temples, especially the Jagannath Temple in Puri by the Maharis.

She has authored and documented texts on Odissi for students titled 'Oudhr Magadh Nritya Shaili' series and 'Geet Govindam in Oudhr Magadh Nritya Shaili' series- as Odissi was known in ancient India.

The book series on the ancient Odissi style classical dance is particularly beneficial for students taking up the dance as a profession, and the series titled 'Geet Govindam in Oudhr Magadh Nritya Shaili' present the Ashtapadi of the ancient treatise by Sri Jayadev emphasising on the Oudhr Magadh style of classical dance and music.
