Allan Brookdale is the Pseudonym for Brent Allan King, chosen using his middle name and the street where he lived growing up in the small, southern Oregon town of Medford. His parents were teachers and they taught him a love for language, for the way words can make you feel.
Allan was the kind of kid that was always up to something. Throwing tomato bombs onto the neighbors deck, picking and eating blackberries until his stomach ached, or chasing around the family cow with a stick, Allan was always looking for that next adventure.
After graduating high school he joined the US Army as a linguist and the adventures never stopped. He traveled all across America, spent several years traipsing around the jungles and city streets of Central America, and spent time in Europe, all in the service of his country. It was during this period of time that he met the love of his life.
While serving in Panama he and some friends went to a popular restaurant in Panama City. Their waitress was a small, fiery woman with big brown eyes and a lovely smile; and Allan was hooked. It took several weeks of convincing, but she finally agreed to a date. Two years later, they were married in small ceremony in Panama City.
They have two daughters and it was for them that he wrote his first published book: Santa's Hat
