Howdy Traveler,
I'm a social worker, meaning I completed years of prerequisite study in college and was essentially drafted to do what little I can to deal with problems in my community. Before that, I was a direct support professional where I did my best to help adults with intellectual disabilities live their best life.
One doesn't get into these kinds of fields with any kind of sincerity without a history of personal pain. Helping others is one way I chose to deal with pain and perceived injustice, and writing is another.
I like to write fantasy novels because I enjoy the genre. That said, I prefer fantasy that explores relevant topics. As much as I love both, I'm more drawn to authors like Sir Terry Pratchett than I am to authors like JRR Tolkien. While not every book has to or should ask meaningful questions about life and social order, I seek out those that do. I would like to think my own writing reflects that and has its own questions to ask. I find it hard to answer questions like "What's your book about?" because I'm never sure if someone wants to know what the book is "about" or who the characters are and what they do. Even now while writing an "author biography" I don't know if you want to know about me or about what I write.
I enjoy archery, tabletop gaming, and making people laugh. I'm happy you've stopped by my author page to read this, fellow traveler. Whether you're already a reader or just having a look, I appreciate you.
