He is the single author of a 15 chapter textbook titled- Viral Hepatitis: Practical Evaluation and Treatment that went into three editions. It was also reviewed by the New England Journal of Medicine where it was stated to contain “a wealth of clinically useful information in a concise and straightforward manner.” Dr Bader and his wife, Marilyn, enjoy traveling. He loves to swim, read, and collect humorous anecdotes.

Ted and Marilyn were the first to coin the words Desire and Duty as a sequel title to Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Many have used this title or a close variant for their Jane Austen or romance related novels since 1997. (Titles cannot be copyrighted). The story was initially created and shared between Ted and Marilyn only as an amusement. Ted wrote the plot down, without intention of publishing it. Marilyn helped with the dialogue. Not knowing whether it was worth publishing, Ted gave the manuscript to Professor Carmen Casis, Dept of English, Regis University in Denver. She wrote an effusive review. The most striking aspect is that she wished to make it required reading in one of her classes. This went beyond the required “nice” when friends or family read one’s effort. The next test was to seek the expert of a Jane Austen expert. John McAleer had been asked by a publisher to write a definitive biography of Jane Austen. He was professor of English at Boston College. Ted wrote a letter to him asking if he would consider writing the preface to Desire and Duty. He send a return reply that was cautious but agreeing to review the book. We forwarded a copy and after reading it, he happily agreed to write the forward to the book. With this external validation, Ted and Marilyn then pursued publication. Eventually they went on a book tour to Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Oklahoma City, and Salt Lake City among others. They wore Jane Austen period (circa 1800) costumes during their book signings.
