Lydia Chowning

Lydia (Palmer) Chowning was born in Washington State. That's where she gets her love for seashore photos highlighted in the picture-book Love Is. Her family then moved to Colorado, where she met her husband, Will Chowning. They both grew up in Christian homes, accepted Christ as children, and raised their children to know the Lord. They had four children, each of which gave her a different experience in education, which shows in her books like The English Teacher Had Some Vowels. Her Ordinary Special experiences are shared in Releasing Dandelions and White Elephant. In 1999, the family went as missionaries to the Amazon Rainforest in South America. Their experiences are told in God's Finger. At that time, her youngest daughter began writing poetry, which the proud mother compiled into Patches. Will died on January 2nd, 2019. Lydia and one of their daughters continue in Leticia, Colombia- teaching English, planning Christmas and writing books, among other things. You can find out more about each member of the family on the blog she and her daughter share - https://ChowningAmazonNews.blogspot or the mission Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ChowningAmazon Sign up for the missionary newsletter through the blog or Facebook page and we'll email you a 2020 calendar PDF with photos from our time on the Amazon River!
