Doug deGrood

Doug deGrood has been a fixture in the Minneapolis advertising community for over 30 years. An award-winning copywriter and creative director, he was one of the founding partners of boutique agency Gabriel deGrood Bendt, which was twice awarded the prestigious O'Toole award from the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A's).

In 2015, he was diagnosed with stage I bladder cancer which quickly progressed to stage IV. The Right Side of the Fairway--which tells the story of his cancer journey while offering golf-inspired lessons for healing, preventing and living with cancer--is his first published work, unless you count the hundreds of ads he’s created.

DeGrood lives in Edina, Minnesota, with his wife, Michaelanne. Together, they have three adult children; Harry, Charlie, and Gigi; an old black cat named Alice; and a pug dog named Birdie.
