J K Kennedy

With a degree in fine art and graduate studies in art history, J K Kennedy has worked as both an art teacher and a graphic designer, as well as head of publications at a large museum. While Joan lives in Alabama, her mysteries are set in Connecticut where she spends most of her vacations visiting her sister. The series novels, featuring police dispatcher Crystal Phillips, contain both real-time murders and cold cases tied together across decades or even centuries. Crystal’s secret is that she can see spirits. A small group of ghost hunters help her solve murders from the past, while she works with the police on current homicides. Each book is set in a different town in Connecticut, and the character-driven stories are rich in local history. Joan also writes stand alone suspense novels that feature strong female protagonists.
