J.R. Minard graduated from Wagner College on Staten Island, N.Y. and taught school in N.J. before relocating to Tallahassee, Florida where she completed her MA degree in education from Florida State University (FSU).
A renewed bond with a lifelong friend and a chance encounter with Victor Prinzi, FSU star quarterback, revived J.R.’s interest in teens and ignited a spark for creative writing. Her first book of historical fiction, “Coach in Cottage C” was written with co-author Rosemary Imregi and published in 2019 after much research and repeated visits to the Dozier School for Boys, a reform school in the Florida Panhandle.
