Joyce Murphy

Hello there! I’m Joyce Murphy, a passionate children’s author living on the Copper Coast of Waterford, Ireland. My inspiration lies with a love for storytelling, the environment and all things fun and imaginative. With my flaming red hair, much like the heroine in my book, “The Girl with the Flaming Red Hair,” I bring a burst of energy and creativity to every story I write.

Interacting with young readers is one of the greatest joys of my life. Seeing their eyes light up with wonder and excitement when they dive into my books fills my heart with happiness. I aim to create a warm, welcoming space for children and parents, where stories are not just read but lived and experienced.

Walking along the beach, the soothing sounds of the waves and the salty breeze inspire my books. My cosy seaside home is where I weave fun adventures that not only entertain but also educate young minds. I believe in the importance of stories to teach children important values that ignite their curiosity for the world around them.

To this end I ’m deeply committed to creating books such as “The Bee and the Dandelion,” that promote education in fun and engaging ways while fostering a strong love and respect for the planet. My Baaby Bear Brother was written to help children navigate the complex emotions that come with welcoming a new sibling into the family. Through relatable storytelling this book encourages little readers to find joy and connection amidst change, easing feelings of jealousy and being overlooked.

Inspired by the magical adventures I adored as a child, I wrote the books “Kong and the Magic Jungle,” and “Kong and the Hungry Crocodile,” which tells the story of three children living in the jungle where they befriend a talking parrot and a Magic Gorilla.
