Jeff Gardner

Jeff Gardner was born in New York and moved to Brasil in 2002. After classical piano lessons with Ruth Schontal and Ivan Tcherepnin, he studied jazz piano with Jaki Byard, Charlie Banacos, Don Friedman, and John Lewis, and harmony with Nadia Boulanger. He has recorded and performed with such musicians as Kenny Wheeler, Gary Peacock, Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart, Norma Winstone, Eddie Harris, Steve Lacy, Freddie Hubbard, Bob Sheppard, Rick Margitza, Nelson Veras, Gilberto Gil, Dominique di Piazza, Paulo Moura, Toninho Horta, Raul de Souza, Lisa Ono, Clark Terry, Slide Hampton, Victor Assis Brasil, Dori Caymmi, Karim Ziad, Sheila Jordan, Ron McClure, "Maraca" Orlando Valle, Drew Gress, Ndugu Chancler, Roberto Bonisolo, Dave Carpenter, Charlie Mariano, Guillermo Anderson, Julio Barreto, Diego Valdes, Antonio Arnedo, Anga Dias, Anthony Pinciotti, Gary Wang, Dafnis Prieto, Lukmil Perez, André Ceccarelli, Hein van de Geyn, Lars Daniellson, Leny Andrade, Stephan Kurmann, Teo Lima, Carlos Bala, Johnny Vidacovich, Tony Dagradi, Marcelo Martins, Marcos Suzano, and the Piano Quartet with Jaki Byard, Martial Solal, and Paul Bley. Jeff has released 18 CD's as a leader, with 3 new releases slated for 2020 including a compilation CD - "Stories", a duo with vibist Arthur Dutra, and a CD of his solo piano works. Ex professor at New York University, Jeff has given workshops and master classes at over a hundred universities and music schools around the world.
