Vince Smith

Vince Smith is married and has brought up five children. He joined the Royal Army Pay Corps in 1972 aged 15. For six years the Army gave him the grounding and support that stood him in good stead for the rest of his life. For family reasons, he left the Army. In 1979. He worked for Redditch Council for fifteen months.

Then following Maggie Thatcher's landslide General Election win, Vince joined the West Midlands police. Through repetition and osmosis, he learned how to police the busy streets of Birmingham. He retired from the West Midlands police in 2007, and then worked, as an investigator, for Warwickshire police for seven years. In 2014 Vince retired.

Vince published Full Disclosure in 2020. He added Further Disclosure in 2024. He took a look at his books and realised that he could do better. In December 2024 he revisited, added details, improved and corrected his memoirs. He has now published Final Disclosure. He promises this will be his final memoir, as he has no more stories to tell. Thank you to everyone who has supported and read his books.

The photograph was taken at Ronnie Knights pub in Benalmadena, Spain in 1990. On the left is the author, in the middle is Ronnie Knight, who was wanted for armed robbery at the time, also present is Hugh Patrick McGowan without whom I doubt I would have written any books.
