Josan Wright Callender

Mrs. Callender, a fourth generation storyteller, sees life as a tapestry of possibilities. She developed an active imagination while growing up in Detroit, MI. Her parents taught that there were no limits to what they could achieve. After graduating from Cass Technical High School, she obtained a Masters of Special Education, Leadership from Wayne State University. Ms. Callender attended film school in Lansing, MI and began working at PBS/Channel 56 as an associate producer. After several local Emmys, she was encouraged to pursue a film career in Los Angeles. With twenty-seven years experience in teaching as a National Board Certified Teacher; graduating from California State University, Northridge with a Master’s Degree in Education Administration and working as a writer|prodoucer|filmmaker, Mrs. Callender developed The Happy Little Garbage Truck, an educational picture book system. She anticipates that "Making Do: Growing Up Colored in the Jim Crow South During the Great Depression," as a young adult, Christian, realistic-historical fiction story, will create hope among its readers!
