Alec Aspinwall

Alec was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up playing sports, asking questions and enjoying the faithful companionship of a mutt named Rose. He first pursued a business career after university, but disillusionment arrived 3 years later and he left his firm to volunteer full-time with homeless youth in New York City.

After two years of volunteering, he obtained a graduate degree from Columbia University and, as an added bonus, found and fell in love with the woman who would become his wife. After a year of marriage, they took a chance on an adventurous one-year assignment in Asia working as international school counselors.

That one-year abroad somehow turned into 33 years overseas. During this time Alec and his wife welcomed a son, a daughter and visits to more than 50 countries. They now live in an idyllic German village in the center of Europe working among 60 nationalities at their current international school, while summers are spent at a lake house in Idaho.

When his nest emptied, Alec rekindled a passion for writing children's stories. "I'll Be the Water" was published by Tilbury House in 2020. He has also self-published "X-PATS," a book for children, families and classrooms that offers the humorous and touching story of twins who pack up their lives and move abroad with their family.

There are still a number of other books among his litter that are awaiting adoption, so stay tuned...
