DD Davis

Born and (mostly) raised in Sacramento, California in the 1980s, the world was my oyster. I grew

up in a wonderfully culturally diverse neighborhood and as a result, I had a friend from (and a

crush on) every ethnic group. And then, thanks to the advent of personal computers and dial up

internet, my world grew even bigger. I spent a lot of time in front of my computer watching

anime, chatting on AIM messenger or chat rooms, downloading music from Napster, and writing

poetry and fan fiction.

Naturally, this shaped me and kept my mind open and accepting. And love? That was maybe the

one thing that was actually colorblind.

But as life would show me over the next several decades, love is a little more nuanced than that.

So, with my ever increasing interest in the written language, I wrote about it. And drawn back to

Sacramento, one of America's most diverse cities, I felt the need to dedicate a space that

celebrated not only love, but this wonderfully diverse place that no one outside of California

seems to know is the capital.

I want you to get to know my city, and maybe, you'll fall in love with the 916 too.
