Vanity Smith is a veteran, mother, and unapologetically sharp storyteller with a dark sense of humor and a deep respect for complicated women. Born in Miami, Florida, and currently residing in Maryland, she balances real life, real responsibility, and real chaos with wit, wine, and words.

She works in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment by day and writes emotionally layered thrillers by night—using creative writing as both a release and a form of rebellion. Her stories explore sisterhood, loyalty, moral gray areas, and what happens when women stop waiting for justice and decide to handle things themselves.

In October 2019, Vanity decided it was time to stop keeping her creativity private and share it with the world. The result is the Murky Waters series—bold, unapologetic, and rooted in the belief that women are allowed to be messy, funny, furious, loving, and dangerous all at once.

When she is not writing, Vanity loves cooking for people she loves, entertaining without rules, traveling whenever possible, and laughing at life—especially when it gets absurd.
