Lane Polak

Hey everybody!

My name is Lane Polak, Huntsville, Al native and aspiring children’s author.

For the past six years of my life I have been tediously working on several collections of children’s stories. However, a lot can happen over the course of six years and publishing always seemed to take a back seat.

My beautiful wife Emily encouraged me to complete my first book before the birth of our son, August Finn. It was a rough and challenging road, but I was able to publish BackWorld: Poems for Kids, No Matter the Age in February; a whole two months before our baby boy arrived.

Children’s literature was always something that resonated with me growing up. I loved the concepts and life lessons that those stories were able to express on a child’s level. Even now at the age of 31, I look back at the ethics and morals that I learned from those fables and try to see how they might apply to my life today.

I’ve been passionate about interacting with children all my life, which also explains why I love being a Dad so much. Stories always seemed to be the way that I could connect with people, no matter the age.

BackWorld is my first book and offers just that - a way to connect with children and their parents. I always wanted to write something that lingered with a child, but would also split up the monotony of bedtime stories for Mom and Dad.

Packed full of silly characters and light humor, BackWorld is both fun and thought provoking at the same time.

In BackWorld, everything is familiar but not as it should be. Left is right, up is down, monsters roam and trees can speak.

Whimsically written and beautifully illustrated by the talented Heather Rose Legge-Click, BackWorld is a way to escape the mundane routine of everyday life, while developing language skills and self-expression for the next generation. We hope our story finds a home on your bookshelf one day, and look forward to sharing our future stories as well.
