Hawys Morgan

Hawys Morgan writes school books for children all around the world. Some teach children to speak English, others teach children to read using phonics. She hopes they all encourage children to love finding out new things!

She was born in the wilds of Wales, spent her twenties travelling between Scotland, Italy, France and Oxford, and now lives on the South Coast of England with her family.

Hawys' first name is Welsh and lots of people find it hard to pronounce (say 'How-iss'). She was named after a courageous Welsh woman called Lady Hawys of Gadarn and tries to live up to her namesake. Why not look up Hawys of Gadarn's history and find out why she was brave?

Morgan is also a Welsh name and means 'Of the sea'. Hawys likes this because the seaside is one of her favourite places to visit.
