Kristen Howdeshell

Kristen Howdeshell is an illustrator and one half of The Brave Union based out of Kansas City, Missouri. Working with her husband Kevin, the two have collaborated since 2008 creating art for a variety of projects including ice cream packaging, movie posters, album artwork, and editorial illustration. After the couple started having their own babies, much of their focus was drawn toward children’s picture books. Being a mom of three young children, Kristen enjoys the affectionate time reading with her babes; and hopes that their books promote that important time with other families.

Kevin and Kristen also enjoy being the volunteer art teachers at their kids’ elementary school, and bring in reading to each of their projects. In their non-art hours, the family spends as many weekends as they can camping, hiking or biking trails, and trampoline time. In bad weather, board games are a go to!

Kristen admits that their house is always a mess and she never can seem to plan ahead for dinner, but the Howdeshells are enjoying this fleeting time as a young family.
