Simon works as an educational consultant and writer. He currently focuses on developing student and teacher agency, and on school evaluation and improvement processes. His work on agency is particularly relevant to the International Baccalaureate, so he has recently written Agency for the IB Programmes.
After completing his mathematics degree, Simon taught in Scotland for a decade. He then moved to international schools where he taught age groups from primary to the IB diploma. His first headship was founding Principal of the International School of Como from 2002 which was followed by several principal jobs around Europe.
Simon wrote Taking the PYP Forward with Steven Carber, to help schools spread best practices, throughout PYP schools. He is the series editor for the PYP Springboard series for Hodder Education.
He works as a consultant in schools around the globe, running School workshops – from developing agency, to leadership development and inquiry; and supporting schools with self-evaluation and improvement.
