Scott Kingdon

Scott Kingdon was an Indiana corporate litigation attorney for thirty-three years. He has written for law journals, newspapers, and magazines. His legal essay on litigation between Indiana high school athletes and the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) appeared in the July/August 2012 issue of Res Gestae, the monthly journal of the Indiana State Bar Association. The law journal article inspired Kingdon to write a book detailing the stories of the high school athletes who filed lawsuits against the IHSAA. Kingdon's book, For The Good Of The Game: Who Decides What's Right? demonstrates that organizations with power and influence make their best decisions when they hear from independent voices. Kingdon's book describes the IHSAA regulatory changes that were inspired by the work of athletes and their parents, state and federal court judges, and, ultimately, the Indiana state legislature. In 2019 Kingdon wrote a book on negotiating entitled: Negotiating: The Art And Science Of Making A Deal. Kingdon is a lifelong participant in organized athletics, including tennis, basketball, golf, and softball. He specializes in writing on legal and sports topics. His writing illustrates that the process by which decisions are made can be just as important as the substance of those decisions.
