Qiao Li

Dr. Qiao Li (Joe) is an Associate Professor in Film at Edinburgh Napier University and Screen Academy Scotland, where he teaches both the theory and practice of filmmaking and supervises PhD students. He is also a Visiting Professor at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, a guest professor at Taylor’s University and Qingdao Film Academy, and the editor of a UNESCO research book project on the global film industry.

Dr. Li holds a Ph.D. in Film Studies from the University of Gloucestershire, with a specialisation in Chinese-language cinemas. He serves as a film festival jury member and has co-edited three books: Migration & Memory: Arts and Cinemas of the Chinese Diaspora (MSHP, 2019); Development of Global Film Industry: Industrial Competition and Cooperation in the Context of Globalization (Routledge, 2020); The Transformation in Global Film Production, Distribution and Consumption in the Post-Pandemic Era (Routledge, 2023).

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Li is a digital filmmaker whose short films have received multiple awards.
