Becki Melvie is small business owner, chef, cooking class instructor, wife and mom. Melvie trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork Co., Ireland situated on an 100-acre organic farm. Her past and present work experience ranges from running her cooking school and retail shop, a seasonal crepe stand, the kitchen at Whole Foods, to Brand Ambassador for a woman-owned start-up, Taking Stock Foods.
Melvie volunteers annually at Garlic Fest located in Hutchinson, Minnesota and at her favorite CSA Farm, Sweet Beet Farm. Melvie has extensively travelled the world and loves to bring her food experiences home to share with others. Her personal mission statement is to help families have wholesome food with convenience. Melvie lives in Buffalo, MN with her husband and two children.
Abundant Kitchen has two retail locations - one in Excelsior, Minnesota and the other in Buffalo, Minnesota. Focusing on approachable, hands-on cooking classes, the cooking school is located 35 minutes west of the Twin Cities metro in Buffalo, Minnesota. The classes that seem to be most popular range from bread baking classes, knife skills, fresh pasta making, how-to hunt for morel mushroom seminars, and global flavors.
Melvie's own personal cooking style is one of using up the leftover bits in the refrigerator and pantry to make something delicious. Some of the most influential food figures in her life were her Grandmother, her parents, and Food Network personalities, like Mario Batali, Alton Brown, Racheal Ray and Giada De Laurentiis. At a young age her father would encourage her to impersonate the queen of them all, Julia Child.
