Translator and printmaker Michael Smith holds a BA in History and an MA in Medieval Literatures and Languages from the University of York. Specialising in the stories and characters of Middle English poetry, he takes particular interest in placing each poem within its historical context to provide a richer understanding of the writing and the times of the poet. To achieve this aim, each of his books includes a detailed historical background, a comprehensive glossary, extensive notes and a bibliography for further research. His translations are richly illustrated with his own linocut prints, giving a unique interpretation and flavour to the poetry and making each book a joy to own.
