Alan Searle

Alan Searle has been in the publishing business since age eight, when he wrote a monthly newsletter for his friends. This was deep in the last century, so it involved a typewriter and carbon paper. Both are now highly underrated; he loved them because they forced accuracy and attention to detail.

Alan made much of his living as a journalist, where the news was what he said it was. He’s also been an account executive, a used car salesman, a disk jockey, an entomologist’s assistant, a sheep farmer and has managed a towing company. He's built an FM radio station from scratch, driven faster than 100 mph on country roads and repented of many other things illegal and immoral. Alan finally recogised the futility of his self-driven life and gave himself to Christ at the tender age of 56.

At heart he's a poet, and just published his first collection. He's also a writer of memoir.

You can keep up with Alan several times a week on Substack by reading War Correspondence: Dispatches From the Spiritual Battlefield, where he pens essays and observations. He and his wife Melanie live in London.
