Michael Riegel is a coach, consultant and project management expert with 30 years of experience working across industries delivering projects and programs for internal and external clients. He has developed and expertise in managing technical professionals and creating teams to deliver projects and meet organizational goals. He also leads teams through the planning, design and execution phases of small- to large-scale projects and organization initiatives.
Michael began and built his career on the ability to develop practical solutions to complex projects. Michael implemented and managed the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Small Business Development Program where he delivered coaching and mentoring services to emerging companies and small business owners. Michael provides coaching, training, and consulting services to multiple individual clients and through organizations including Fox Home Team Sports, Columbia University, NYC Small Business Services, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Washington Gas and Light, Railroad Construction Company, and Tru Fund.
Michael combines his expertise in coaching, business leadership, project and program management, as well as staff and organizational development to help leaders and teams navigate obstacles to achieve personal and professional success. In his coaching and consulting practice, he works with technical and business professionals to help them become more effective business leaders, communicators, relationship-builders, problem-solvers, people managers, and a range of other development goals. In delivering training programs, Michael brings his years of experience as a manager and supervisor to help participants develop practical approaches to implementing the topics at work.
Michael’s approach to coaching, consulting, and mentoring combines his natural intellectual curiosity (to fully understand the “what” and the “why”), analytical skills (to accelerate development of options and develop a framework for goal attainment), and his ability to personally connect with his clients. Michael tailors his approach to each client’s individual needs and set of circumstances and lives by the motto “what got here won’t get you there” both personally and professionally.
Michael earned his MBA at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a graduate of Coach U and a certified coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation and completed the Master Trainer program through the Association of Talent Development. He regularly consults with and advises public agencies, technical organizations, and engineering firms on the development and implementation of training programs for technical professionals and small business owners. His book, Build Like the Big Primes – A Contractor’s Guide to Building Your Business and Balancing Your Life, is due out in early 2020 and focuses on helping construction professionals make the transition from “contractor” to “business owner”.
Michael lives in Long Island, New York, with his wife, teenage twins and his rescue dog – who loves him the best! If he was not a coach, Michael would be chasing natural disasters and helping communities recover from storm damage – essentially creating order out of chaos – similar to helping his clients create order in their personal and professional lives.
