Narnia, Asteroid B-612, Middle Earth, and Earthsea. I’ve spent a lot of time in each of these places.

For nearly fifty years I’ve taught students from high school to retirement ages and not found any who were not spoken to by stories. And since I love stories myself, that’s what I wanted to make. Now I live at the foot of the Rockies in Colorado, and get to hike in them while scheming and dreaming up new stories about old and new worlds.

I’ve also been to more than fifty countries on earth on every continent except Antartica. But the imaginary places often shaped me more than the real places. So I decided to create an imaginary place where reality could be experienced and I could share both my Christian worldview and insights other people have given me. That is the Verduran Pentology. Its base is in America but the action takes place mostly in Verdura.

Also, I’ve felt that our American story has not been adequately presented to millennials and following generations, so in addition to embedding the Verduran Pentology in 19th century America, I wrote a book on the American Revolutionary War. I didn’t expect that to be the first of another series, but that’s what it became. So now there are three books in the Young America series. They start just before the Battle of Yorktown and end with the beginning of the Adams administration; the crucial fifteen year period that was the beginning of our nation.

Finally, at least for now, I decided to write a book for fun about some of the issues that people in my generation face as the number of our years piles up. It's a romance, actually, and because I didn't want it to be confused with the Young Adult books in the two series mentioned above, I used the author name, G.W.Saunders. You can see 'Finding Home' on Amazon under that author name.

My wife and I have been married for more than 57 years now, and our three children with their spouses have given us six grandchildren; the youngest of whom are now well along in college.
