Dan Wedin

As a boy I was an avid reader as a member of "Great Books", a wonderful group that gave young people a new copy of a classic every two weeks and then met to discuss the book. Though I was enrolled by a teacher who already knew I was addicted to reading as I often had books in my book bag from our home library. When we read "Robin Hood" I had to laugh as I'd already read it twice. Still love that book and I find that when re-reading a classic the book has not changed, but I have. This leads to greater understanding and hence a deeper enjoyment in meeting and reacquainting oneself with an old friend.

I began writing as a young man after encouragement from friends and my wife. I'd taken a rather colorful commercial albacore fishing trip as a teen with a stoic old Norwegian which spawned many stories and a lot of laughs. So I sat down at my old typewriter at age twenty-two and wrote "Albacora". It would take me decades to actually get it into print but that was an exciting day. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

I have worked as a fisherman, cannery worker, heavy truck builder and welder, news reporter, editor, photographter, printer, copywriter, marketing executive, jingle writer, general manager of a food company, content producer, author and business development consultant. My desire was simple, I wanted to get paid for enjoying myself. And I still do.

My next book beyond "You Are A Genius" will be fiction and I am excited to get this project complete and meeting its destiny so I can move on. On a final note, I return to one work of fiction periodically and that's Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes". It never fails to offer up knowledge, intrigue, adroit observations of human behavior and historical references. And prime examples of the power of deductive reasoning.
