Ian Bullock

Ian Bullock worked for most of his career in Further Education in Brighton where he initiated and ran a very large Access to Higher Education course assisting mature students to access a university education. After retirement in 2003 he was for some years an Associate Tutor and later a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Sussex. In 1982 he received a D Phil degree from the University of Sussex for a thesis which explored the relationship in the British context of democracy and socialism in the 1880 to 1914 period. Subsequently, he edited with Richard Pankurst Sylvia Pankhurst. From Artist to Anti-Fascist in 1992 and co-wrote with Logie Barrow Democratic Ideas and the British Labour Movement, 1880-1914 in 1996. His books published in the current century are Romancing the Revolution. The Myth of Soviet Democracy and the British Left in 2011 and Under Siege. The Independent Labour Party in Interwar Britain in 2017.
