I live in Auckland, New Zealand with my wife, two daughters, and a small hairy mutt that pees when he gets excited.

My sister and I used to lie on the floor and draw for hours. I was obsessed with Asterix and the Smurfs. My dad managed a toy shop. Can you imagine? He brought home Zoids, Dungeons and Dragons, and Trivial Pursuit. I got to test out these toys!

I've always enjoyed writing and telling stories.

Meeting one of New Zealand's favourite authors, Joy Cowley, changed everything. Since then, I have published many picture books and middle-grade novels for 6-10-year-olds. Kids and adults ask me how to write a book. My answer? Have fun, make a mess, edit later. Think of something true to your heart and run with it.
