After writing nine nonfiction books on magic, Larry decided to take a turn at fiction. With his background in science, mathematics, and technology he developed characters and plot using only his imagination. No formula was used. There was no outline he followed. He just began writing with no idea of how the story would develop or end. The result was his first novel, Out of Place.
In Out of Place his main protagonist is a female amateur magician and math super-genius. Her colleague is a brilliant CIA agent and a former Mossad agent. As a man, writing about two strong female lead characters can be challenging. He thanks his editor Esther Miller, who was invaluable in helping those two characters appear alive, authentic, and not stereotyped.
The second book in the Out of Place series is currently being written and follows again Ellie Schur and Miriam Nachman in another action-adventure called Out of Place, Out of Control.
