Jodi Cleghorn

"Words are the smallest unit of magick."

Jodi Cleghorn is an author and cut-up poet with a penchant for the dark vein of humanity. A love of narrative has lead her through writing into editing, publishing, book design, tarot, professional development and more recently, to study psychology and astrology.

Her passion for wild, innovative ideas transcends and transgresses standard interpretations of story and form. The life blood of her creative exploration and expression is collaboration.

Her stories have appeared in local and international publications including the women’s only spec-fic anthology "One Small Step" and the award-winning Antipodean "At The Edge". Her self-published work includes "Elyora", "No Need to Reply" and "The Starling Requiem". She has been twice short-listed for an Aurealis Award, Australia's premier speculative fiction awards.

"Post Marked: Piper’s Reach" her debut novel, co-written with Adam Byatt, was published by Vine Leaves Press in July 2019. "Her First Reality, Darkness", the first in her Birthpunk Constellation octet, was published by The JAR Writers' Collective in December 2019, followed by a debut cut-up poetry collection "Shades of Paradox" in December, 2020.

In late November 2023 Jodi's legacy work will go live -- including new versions of "Elyora" and "The Starling Requiem" (both available digitally for the first time) and a collection of short fiction, "This Once Precious Life".

Jodi is the former publishing editor of eMergent Publishing and was one third of The JAR Writers' Collective from 2018-2023.

She divides her day between writing and depth sessions -- harnessing her gifts with words to leverage stories in the imaginal and real worlds, for readers and clients alike.
