Stephen W. Dittmore

I serve as Dean of the Silverfield College of Education and Human Services at the University of North Florida. I spent 14 years on faculty and as an administrator at the University of Arkansas and, more recently, two years as Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences at Baldwin Wallace University.

I am the author of Jim Gilliam: The Forgotten Dodger (2025, August Publications) as well as soon-to-be four editions of Sport Public Relations from Human Kinetics.

Prior to entering higher education, I worked 10+ years in sport public relations. I had the good fortune of working at two Olympic Games (Atlanta 1996 and Salt Lake City 2002), traveling to 10 countries, and presenting at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. I worked three U.S. Olympic Festivals, a Pan American Games, an NCAA Final Four, and countless professional, collegiate, and international sporting events. More recently, I served as Venue Media Manager for aquatics at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles.

Born in Redondo Beach, Calif., I spent much of my youth in Wayzata, Minn. My earliest sports memories revolve around Vin Scully's voice bringing Dodgers games to life on my parents' mammoth console record player in the 1970s.
