Mark Tighe

Mark Tighe is the Senior Investigations Journalist with The Irish Times newspaper. Before that he wrote for The Sunday Independent and The Sunday Times in Ireland. As well as covering legal affairs, he specialises in investigative reporting and governance in sporting organisations. He was named News Reporter of the Year at the NewsBrands Ireland Journalism Awards in 2018 and 2019. He was awarded Journalist of the Year in 2019 Irish newspaper awards for a string of exclusive stories that revealed large-scale financial mismanagement in the Football Association of Ireland. He co-authored the book Champagne Football. He was awarded Journalist of the Year a second time in 2024 with Marie Crowe for their investigation into abuse of Irish women footballers.
