Collin Cornell

Collin Cornell joined the Fuller faculty in 2023 as assistant professor of Bible and mission. Dually appointed to the Bible department and the mission department, he teaches classes at Fuller’s Texas campus in Old Testament and missiology, particularly biblical theology of mission. His research interests center on the history of religions and biblical theology, and he publishes on a range of related topics including: Psalms, Tabernacle texts, Levantine religious traditions, post-supersessionist hermeneutics, and ecological interpretation.

Prior to Fuller, Dr. Cornell taught as visiting faculty at the University of the South (Sewanee), Duke Divinity School, and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He also managed Sewanee’s Center for Religion and Environment, coordinated Sewanee’s Indigenous Engagement Initiative, and acted as academic dean of the Stevenson School for Ministry, a local formation school of the Episcopal church. Cornell recently authored three books: God Draws Near: Rethinking the Biblical Theology of Mission (2025), Monotheism and Divine Aggression (2023), and Divine Aggression in Psalms and Inscriptions (2021). He also edited Divine Doppelgängers: YHWH’s Ancient Look-Alikes (2020); coedited a volume of essays by Brent A. Strawn, The Incomparable God: Readings in Biblical Theology (2023); and cotranslated a book by Dutch theologian and antifascist K. H. Miskotte, Biblical ABCs: The Basics of Christian Resistance (2021).

Collin and his spouse are members of a New Worshipping Community in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
