Deirdre Osborne PhD, HonFRSL FRSA is Professor of Literature and Drama in English at Goldsmiths, University of London where she co-foundered and has convened the MA Black British Literature since 2015, the only degree globally in the field. Her research spans subjects drawn from late-Victorian literature to contemporary poetry, plays and fiction writing through topics such as, Landmark Poetics, Mothertext, mixedness, and adoption aesthetics in relation to the consequences of the British Empire and its aftermath. She is Associate Editor of the journal Women's Writing (Taylor and Francis) and was elected Honorary Fellow to the Royal Society for Literature in 2022. She is the first woman to be appointed College Orator at Goldsmiths.
