Anthony Taylor

Anthony Deshawn Taylor, who some know as “Fresh”, was born and raised in Brunswick, GA. In June of 2009, at the age of 16, Anthony began having trouble with his vision. By October of that year, he was diagnosed with Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, and as a result, he became completely blind. Anthony was devastated, and at a complete loss, because life as he knew it would change forever. This major change would shape and change him in ways that were indescribable. Even now, the thought of never being able to see again sometimes still feels unreal.

Although the loss of his sight presents major challenges, it has not deterred him from striving to achieve lifelong goals, while continuing to set new ones. Shortly after graduating high school in May 2010, Anthony attended the Savannah Association for the Blind (now known as Savannah Center for Blind and Low Vision) where he learned skills to prepare him for college and life after college. In fall 2011, Anthony enrolled at The College of Costal Georgia. In the spring of 2015, Anthony transferred to Armstrong State University (now known as Georgia Southern University), where he helped charter the Alpha Delta Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. In December of 2017, Anthony graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English Professional Communication.

Indignation is his first novel, and he spent countless nights, and poured a lot of himself into the work. Being that Anthony was never much of a reader or writer when he could see, he feels so blessed to have discovered this new gift. He never thought that a young, blind guy from a small country town in South Georgia would be an author of a novel. The journey has taught him a lot, and even with the many trials and tribulations, he is so humbled and grateful for valuable lessons he’s learned along the way. Anthony intends to write many more, and has already began writing his next two novels.
