Roland Twynam

The author, Roland Twynam, is a retired art teacher who lives in the West Midlands.

For most of his life, he has concentrated on painting and drawing, and he has exhibited locally and further afield.

It was when he moved to his present village, near Wolverhampton, that he found a writing group and joined. At the back of his mind, he had always wanted to paint pictures using words. And, as a painter, he has always considered Charles Dickens a wonderful image-maker. Unfortunately, because of his wife’s illness, he had to give up his mid-week group writer sessions, and he joined the Wrekin Writers’ who meet once a month at Telford, Shropshire, on Saturday mornings. This allowed family members to look after Mom.

His novel, ON THE OTHER SIDE, is his first self-published work. At 83 years of age, he has many stories hidden in his computer which may come to light. With his Irish background and an interest in history Roland has spent four years on this story. Sadly, his wife died in 2019 from Parkinson’s disease, and he now lives alone but with wonderful support from his three children, Mark, Melanie, Lisa, and his friends.

He wears two caps, or should it be three? Because apart from his artwork and writing, he also enjoys playing the classical guitar.
