Kim A. Smith is an accomplished author, speaker and executive coach. She’s spent over 14 years mastering leadership within some of the top hospital systems in the industry.
This Wake Forest University and University of South Carolina graduate launched her leadership consulting firm in 2015. Through her work at The Positivity Academy, she offers dynamic workshops on employee engagement and leadership development for organizations who are ready to reimagine their work culture and redesign their people strategy.
She has authored two leadership books. In The Value Lens, readers learn how to shift from employee to partner. Kim’s newest book People First then Profit, is a roadmap for improving business outcomes by building positive team cultures. Kim believes that the success of any corporate executive or brand owner is a return on the investment they made in their people first.
It is through her engaging books and trainings that she teaches leaders core principles to strategically engage their “people” as their #1 asset. The corporate leaders Kim has coached have learned how to be the “brand within the brand” so that they are irreplaceable, promotable and seen as a partner.
In addition to her corporate and business experience, Kim has a heart for maternal and infant health advocacy. She began her role as a National Board Member for the Preeclampsia Foundation in 2018- a nonprofit organization committed to improving the health outcomes of women effected by hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. She and her family have been supporting the organization ever since the loss of their daughter - Lauren Kelly, due to HELLP Syndrome in 2012. In Kim’s words “every leader has the capacity be an advocate and use their influence for greater impact”.
