Deborah Caulfield Rybak

Deborah Caulfield Rybak has worked as a journalist for more than 40 years. She covered Aspen

during its counterculture heyday in the 1970s at the Aspen Daily News before moving to Los Angeles, where she spent 10 years reporting on the entertainment industry as a staff writer at the Los Angeles Times.

During Rybak’s 20-year tenure in Minnesota, she became a specialist in deconstructing law firm collapses as a writer for Minnesota Law & Politics. She covered the Minnesota tobacco trial for Law & Politics, and as a legal analyst on WCCO-TV. Following the trial, Rybak joined the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where she and Phelps won a Best in Business award in 2001 from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) for their post-tobacco trial coverage.

She currently lives on Maui and continues her fascination with law and politics as a frequent contributor to Mauitime Weekly.
