I am the author of a collected work of poetry Then All Goes Blue and a chapbook The Orange County Love Spoon. My novel, A Dream Once Dreamed, an experimental mix of novel, journal, and poetry was released this year.
I've written every day since July 1, 1990. I remember the date because it also is my first wedding anniversary. I've now been married for 31 years. Time flies.
In her recent book, 'Limitless Mind, Learn, Lead and Live Without Barrier,' Professor Jo Boaler talks about me as a person whose life has changed dramatically as a result of learning about the benefits of struggle and of approaching content differently. I suffered a traumatic brain injury when I was 2, and had to relearn everything. That made all the difference.
I worked in government and engineering for 25 years before I became a math teacher, but have always remained interested in writing.
I also have been committed to the environment, having helped to organize the first two Earth Days.
I am currently working on my second novel and preparing for another year of teaching middle school math.
My poetry has been read on American Public Radio’s Writer’s Almanac, and his poems have appeared in City Lights Review, Southern California Quarterly, Pearl, ONTHEBUS, Spillway, and other literary journals. He teaches middle school math in Santa Ana, California, and lives with his wife and two dogs in Tustin California. My son attends CSU Channel Islands in Camarillo California.
