Jose Ignacio Cabezon

José Ignacio Cabezón is Dalai Lama Professor Emeritus and Distinguished Research Professor of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Specializing in Buddhism, he has published more than a dozen books on Indian and Tibetan philosophy, history, literature, ritual, and gender/sexuality studies. He is the recipient of many fellowships, including a Guggenheim, was elected to membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2019, and in 2020 served as president of the American Academy of Religion.
