Constance Douglas

Constance Marie Douglas is a storyteller, educator, artist, children’s puppeteer, and creator of Toss Your Kruddy, a playful approach to helping children understand big feelings, recognize the thoughts influencing their choices, and discover their own power to choose what happens next.

Known to children as “The Shnoogy Lady,” Constance has spent years using storytelling, art, imagination, and connection to encourage self-awareness, empathy, kindness, and thoughtful choice-making in children.

Constance is an honours student and BASc candidate at the University of Lethbridge. Her current psychology studies explore reciprocal storytelling and empathy among school-aged children. She has also completed training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through Brown University.

Before focusing more fully on children’s storytelling and education, Constance worked for many years as a professional artist, muralist, illustrator, and designer.

At the heart of her work is a simple belief: children are capable of remarkable self-awareness when we give them language and tools they can understand. Through Shnoogy, Kruddy, and the three-step practice, Name it. Choose it. Toss it. She hopes to help children pause, notice what is happening inside themselves, and remember that their feelings are real, their thoughts matter, and their choices belong to them.
