Claims

by T P Graf

There are few things

that I claim to be

and many that I don’t.

I’m not an inventor,

counselor, or priest—

nor a teacher, artist,

or musician. Not a

doctor or lawyer,

statesman or other

noble role. I’m not

an intellectual—

not even all that bright.

My credentials are

unimpressive,

regardless of the

jobs you recite.

I’ve never been

sure of vocation,

while other’s

pronounce God’s call.

I do claim to have

some patience

where others’ fuses

run short.

I am the jack of a

few useful trades,

yet certainly master

of none.

I’m troubled enough

to write my thoughts,

whether anyone

reads them or not.

And that’s about all

I can claim, with

one notable exception.

My life has been

extraordinary from

the moment of

its inception.
