Hongwei Bao

Dr Hongwei Bao is Associate Professor in Media Studies at the University of Nottingham, UK, where he also directs the Centre for Contemporary East Asian Cultural Studies. He is also a research associate of the Birmingham School of Art. Dr Bao is the author of Queer Comrades, Queer China, Queer Media in China and Contemporary Chinese Queer Performance. He also co-edited Queer/Tongzhi China. He is on the editorial boards of British Journal of Chinese Studies, Chinese Independent Cinema Observer and Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art; he also serves on the international advisory boards of Queer Asia book series (Hong Kong University Press) and Refeng Xueshu. He writes and edits a column titled Queer Lens for the Chinese Independent Film Archive. He also co-edits book series Queering China: Transnational; Genders and Sexualities for Bloomsbury.
