Ian G. Macpherson

I am a retired headmaster, and spent a lot of time at sea over forty odd years.

My sailing life was a complete contrast to my busy life as Headmaster of Barrhead High School (1973-77), and Rector of Eastwood High School, Newton Mearns, (1977-95).

Not only did sailing refresh my spirits, but it took me to out-of-the-way places and introduced me to interesting people all over the world. It also led to my sailing as a voluntary mate on Ocean Youth Trust 70 foot ketches. I eventually became the Ocean Youth Trust Scottish Area Governor, and I helped many young people to sail on its voyages and to enjoy adventures at sea too.
