Robert John Marchisello

Robert Marchisello spent over thirty-seven years with the Philadelphia Fire Department, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief. During the entire time, from training until retirement, he kept a journal of the events he witnessed. In his book he shares his thoughts, feelings and emotions about everything - from the horrible sights he saw, to the friendly banter that goes on behind the red doors. His book is revealing - citing little known facts about what it's like to be a professional firefighter in a city the size of Philadelphia. Everything; from fighting major blazes to being caught in the middle of a wild gunfight, from emergency medical calls to decomposing bodies, from hazardous materials incidents to a collapsed pier in the Delaware River, from firehouse pranks to losing brother firefighters in the line of duty - it's all in this book.
